In an attempt to add more fish to my diet (doctors suggestion) I bought some salmon and some ahi tuna steaks. My hubby and I had the salmon last week and I hated it, way too fishy for my taste. I’m thinking of cooking the ahi tuna either tonight or tomorrow. Any recipes that add a lot of flavor? Is ahi tuna really fishy tasting? I love canned tuna! lol
I like almost all fish but I agree with you, I am not a big salmon fan. I do love tuna, though. Maybe you should try broiling a small piece and squeezing some lemon juice on it just to see what the basic fish tastes like as well as trying one of the recipes that people recommend. For many types of fish if you soak them in milk for half an hour or an hour before preparing them (in the fridge), it takes the fishy taste away.
Salmon has a strong taste so many people avoid it. Since you are new to fish I’d recommend some more mild flavored fish such as swordfish, haddock, halibut, or mahi mahi. These fish usually take on whatever flavorings you cook them with. Also, only buy fish the day you plan to eat them so they are fresh.
