Crunchy croutons are crucial in Caesar salad. Of course. But if your favorite part of take-out pizza is the melted cheese that sticks to the box, and you love the crispy cheese left on the pan when you bake nachos, then crispy Parmesan rounds are the Caesar salad garnish you require!
They're so easy to make. Here's how:
Step 1. Tear parchment paper into baking sheet-size lengths. Using a small lid as a guide, draw circles on the parchment paper.
Step 2. Line baking sheets with the parchment paper. Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F.
Step 3. Grate enough Parmesan cheese to fill in the rounds you've drawn onto the parchment. Use a scoop, spoon, or your fingers. Spread the cheese out so it's not mounded, which will help create cool snowflake-like patterns of melted cheese. If you like, add freshly ground black pepper, cayenne, or fresh thyme to your Parmesan crisps -- or other spices and herbs.
Step 4. Bake the cheese in your preheated oven for about 8 minutes, or until beautifully golden. Remove from the oven to cool. Then remove with a spatula and add to Caesar salads!
And remember, crouton lovers, this isn't an either/or situation, it's a both situation: Keep the croutons, add the crisps!
